How to Alleviate Project Management Stress

If you're experiencing the effects of stress due to corporate management, you're not alone. Many executives and businesspeople experience this problem. There are ways to alleviate management stress which you can use right away. When you are the head of a project, you need to be aware of your needs and the needs of the employees under you. As a leader, you must take care of your own needs so that you can attend to the needs of your team. There are lots of simple stress relieving tactics you can use both at work and at home.
One tactic is controlled breathing. This is taught by many psychotherapists because it's easy and it works. Simply sit up straight, close your eyes and take a deep breath through your nose. Expand your belly first, then your chest. Let the breath out through your nose slowly. Repeat this process several times, being aware of your body. After a few deep belly breaths you should feel more centered and less stressed. This technique takes only a minute or two and can be done anywhere, anytime. For example, you could try this before heading off to a high-stress meeting.
Another easy way to reduce stress related to project management is to practice effective time and energy management. Using your time and energy to its fullest can help prevent stress due to high pressure deadlines. Being conservative with your time and energy can help you get more done in less time. By cultivating a more relaxed atmosphere, your team can work to their fullest without feeling strained. So, start on your project as early as possible and allow yourself as much time as you can. Your team will thank you and you will feel more efficient.
If you are in the clutches of project management stress and see no way out, it helps to take a short break and center yourself. Stop what you're doing and do some deep breathing. Visualize yourself in a pleasant place such as a tropical island. Take a few minutes to scan your body for signs of tension and deliberately try to release that tension. When you return to work, make an effort to stay on a calm, even keel and not get flustered, even if you are behind schedule. By combating stress you and your corporate team can function to the highest possible potential and avoid damaging effects.
